How It Began ...

I was first involved in Kindness Club at Mazama High School. They have excellent outreach programs to help their students and the community. They are a great group of people who have put together a clothes closet at their school and host several food drives each year, along with other activities.

When I moved to Henley High School, I wanted to take some of the ideas I had at Mazama and see them come to life at Henley Elementary. After I saw the enthusiasm of the kids at Henley Elementary, I wanted to expand and bring the idea of Kindness Club to more schools. And that's how Klamath Kindness Clubs began. I soon partnered with FBLA members at Eagle Ridge High School as they decided to take on Klamath Kindness Clubs for their chapter service project.

The Klamath Kindness Clubs started as a way to teach children how to be kind to themselves and one another. As of January, 2019, there are Kindness Clubs at Stearns, Peterson, Henley, Ferguson and Keno Elementary Schools. Hopefully, we will add more schools soon. Meetings are held once a month at each school and joint activities, which involve all of the clubs, will be planned as often as possible, at least every other month.

Students in third through sixth grades are welcome to join. All of the activities are optional. If a student misses a Kindness Club meeting, they are welcome to join the next one. Hopefully, Klamath Kindness Clubs will continue to grow in our community!
